Abstract

The article shows the concept of African footprints, created in the Anthropology field, to explain the permanence of African imaginaries in the American Diaspora. It is aimed to describe the way in which this concept configures a poietics in the visual arts and to evaluate its usefulness in the constitution of a black aesthetics. Two visual artists are analyzed: Emanuel Araújo (Brasil) y Mercedes Angola (Colombia), who try to link their work of art with Africa, in some deeply erudite processes. Both know about the African historical and philosophical aspects represented, imagined, created, and recreated in the Diaspora.
