Abstract

CRAGNOLINI, Mónica Beatriz. THE GAY SCIENCE: AN EXERCISE OF WASTEFACING THE "HOLY WAR" AGAINST THE ANIMAL. Nómadas [online]. 2012, n.37, pp.147-155. ISSN 0121-7550.

In this article, the concept of gay science allows to think about different ways to connect with the living animal, aiming the deconstruction of taking-life mechanisms. If the "holy war" against the animal is, as showed in the paper, a "war against waste", a "generous science" like the gay science, supposes a different form of facing the relationship with the living animal and with the animal we are. In this sense, it is stated that, in a political sense, "the gay science" could be considered as another perspective to think about ways of placing us in community with all the living.

Keywords : ascetic ideal; animality; sacrifice; cruelty; community.
