Abstract

BUFARANI, Mariel. LIVING IN THE PUBLIC SPACE: THOUGHTS ON URBAN CONTROL POLICIES. Nómadas [online]. 2012, n.37, pp.231-239. ISSN 0121-7550.

This paper analyzes the control mechanisms over urban space carried out by the town administration of Rosario (Santa Fe, Argentina), mainly regarding homeless people. It highlights the way in which urban control policies affect the daily life of homeless people, and the meanings these people give to the place they live in. Finally, it shows how these control measures are linked to the building of a city image.

Keywords : public space; homeless people; urban policies; urban control; daily life; city image.
