Abstract

PEDRAZA, Zandra. Through the body's archipelago: experience, practice and representation. Nómadas [online]. 2013, n.39, pp.13-27. ISSN 0121-7550.

The article proposes an approach to the historical and cultural character given to the body in specialized studies. The argumentation appeals to some fundamental considerations about the body's more conspicuous senses, and deepens into the main analytical difficulties which arise from such ideas. Commenting three works published in the seventies considered by the author to be representative of the studies of the body, this article concludes that the uprising of said studies, among other discussions, has contributed to the idea of a cultural body, rather than a natural one, and its unfinished character.

Keywords : studies of the body; corporal techniques; representation analysis; power analysis; social theory of the body.
