Abstract

CABRA, Nina Alejandra. Tin dolls and little rag soldiers, videogames as migration to other gender experiences. Nómadas [online]. 2013, n.39, pp.165-179. ISSN 0121-7550.

The paper approaches the idea of videogames as fundamental in the creation and transformation of gender identities. it states that, apart from altering the space and time notion, fundamental to the concept of femininity, videogames transform the spaces in which contemporary men and women play games. Finally, it is shown that by modifying the space notion, new ways arise to manage strength, aggressive and creative emotions, which can alter both masculinities and femininities.

Keywords : videogames; gender; femininity; masculinity; space-time; gendered games.
