Abstract

SANCHEZ LOPERA, Alejandro  and  RUEDA ORTIZ, Rocío. María Cristina Laverde Toscano: handcrafts of an investigative practice for social sciences. Nómadas [online]. 2014, n.40, pp.13-33. ISSN 0121-7550.

The reader is here presented the intellectual and academic career path of María Cristina Laverde Toscano, founder of the Institute for Contemporary Social Studies (IESCO in Spanish) former Research Department of the Universidad Central (DIUC in Spanish). The text shows her different bets and battles in order to gain a position for the interdisciplinary social research within the University projects, and in Colombia, facing the uprising of the University as an enterprise. The authors express in the end their approval of Laverde's decision to resign from her chair as IESCO`s director, an action valued in his coherence with her nomadic perspective on social sciences.
