Abstract

DE CARVALHO, José Jorge  and  FLOREZ FLOREZ, Juliana. Knowledge encounter: a project to de-colonize the eurocentric university knowledge. Nómadas [online]. 2014, n.41, pp.131-147. ISSN 0121-7550.

The article presents the Knowledge Encounter Project, a transdisciplinary, theoretical-political intervention, aimed to de-colonize the knowledge model imparted at Latin American and Caribbean universities. One of the characteristics of coloniality in the region has been to consolidate academic institutions that work as an imitation of universities created in Europe in the 19 Century. The project attempts to integrate different pedagogic elements in an epistemically diverse space, rooted in local ancestral wisdom.

Keywords : Knowledge Encounter; de-coloniality; University; social science; ancestral wisdom; wise people.
