Abstract

This article looks to expand the knowledge about art as a form of queer activism in Latin America. It examines whether feminists and gender studies allow or impede exploring the queer theory in the region and the relationship of said theory with social sciences. Three study cases of groups of artists, performance artists and writers, are analyzed to weave together the relationship between challenges to gender and sexuality normativity, and citizenry, as well as the potency in forms of perform queer.
