Abstract

TELLERIA, Juan. Are we still speaking about development? The undp paradigm of human development as knowledge-power. Nómadas [online]. 2015, n.43, pp.241-251. ISSN 0121-7550.

Despite the failure of the Millennium Development Goals, the UN agenda subsequent to 2015 creates an invitation to continue the discussion about development. From this situation, this article proposes a critical analysis of the UNDP Paradigm of Human Development. The goal is to reveal how the implicit assumptions of this paradigm, instead of promoting a change, reinforce the status quo. The discourse of the UNDP is presented as a Foucauldian dynamic of knowledge-power. In conclusion, the article proposes to replace the concept of development with the concept of power.

Keywords : human development; cultural diversity; UNDP; power.
