Abstract

MARTINEZ G, Lina María. Gender experiences as a couple: paradoxical meanings identified through therapy. Nómadas [online]. 2017, n.46, pp.183-197. ISSN 0121-7550.

From a feminist conceptual framework, the document analyzes the paradoxical meanings of gender experiences for couples in relationships that are characterized by similar socioeconomic conditions among its members. Special therapists in six Colombian cities identified such paradoxical meanings. Furthermore, it states key methods to understand those meanings, based on the existing relationships with the constant patriarchal ties in this experience. It also highlights the potential of narrative therapy for the deconstruction and transformation of such experiences, and towards fostering equality within the couple.

Keywords : feminism; gender experience; couple relationship; paradoxical meanings; patriarchal ties; therapeutic intervention.
