The article reviews part of Aníbal Quijano texts, made between 1962 and 1980, examining the methods in which the preference for the author's sociology was related to the explosion and strengthening of Latin American social sciences. In turn, it highlights Quijano's reflections on the cholification process as an exercise in order to understand the mechanisms of power in Peru.
