Abstract

ACEVEDO-TARAZONA, Álvaro; MEJIA-JEREZ, Andrea  and  CORREA-LUGOS, Andrés. Sexism in University Mobilizations in Colombia in 1971 and 2011. Nómadas [online]. 2019, n.51, pp.67-83. ISSN 0121-7550.  https://doi.org/10.30578/nomadas.n51a4.

From a comparative perspective, the article proposes to identify the sexist discriminations that have an impact on female participation in the student mobilizations that took place in 1971 and 2011. It is a contribution on social movements research from a gender perspective, in which there are still unresolved concerns. It concludes that, despite contextual differences in the student mobilization, there are still cultural and historical roles that try to relegate women to instrumental functions, while preserving some historical gender inequalities that feed symbolic violence dynamics.
