Abstract

DURAN, Andrés. La Pestilencia: A Hymn Against Rottenness and Corruption. Mud!. Nómadas [online]. 2020, n.53, pp.215-227.  Epub July 05, 2021. ISSN 0121-7550.  https://doi.org/10.30578/nomadas.n53a12.

This article presents the history of Colombian punk band La Pestilencia and analyzes the con-tents of their record production since 1989, when they released their first work. The band wrote a very important chapter in the history of national rock for making a critical denunciation of Colombian reality, both in the lyrics of their songs and on the covers of their six albums. From the author's experience, personally and as a radio producer, the text shows the place of the band as a reference in the country by promoting, through music and in an innovative way, certain types of truths about acts of corruption, inequalities, and violations of human rights that few dare to see and denounce.

Keywords : La Pestilencia; Musical Band; Colombian Rock; Punk; Colombian Reality; Social Denunciation.
