Abstract

GALAZ, Caterine  and  MENARES, Rubén. Transgender Migrants / Refugees in Chile: Sexile, Transphobia, and Political Solidarity. Nómadas [online]. 2021, n.54, pp.205-221.  Epub Jan 17, 2022. ISSN 0121-7550.  https://doi.org/10.30578/nomadas.n54a12.

This article aims to inquire into the trajectories of transgender migrants in Chile, as well as their resistance strategies. The authors address their experiences and make visible the effects of the conjunction of xenophobic, cisnormative, and socio-economic discriminations. Likewise, transphobic scenarios are highlighted as a factor of expulsion from their countries. In the conclusions, the authors posit that their analysis allows them to visualize some tensions in the life trajectories of transgender migrants, such as those referred to the progress around the ongoing institutional and daily transphobic violence at the Latin American level.

Keywords : Transgender Migrants; Refuge; Intersectionality; Activism; Resistance; Sexile.
