Objective: To describe the various variables associated to the social-demographic characteristics, the reason for consultation and diagnostic impressions of the patients who took the CAP service from 2006 to 2010. Date and Place of the Research Study: Manizales, Colombia, 2011. Methods: This longitudinal research study emphasizes on the description of the variables. The working material was the databases and the registry of CAP - Universidad de Manizales' clinical histories, containing data from 1,233 patients who attended the Center from 2006 to 2010. Results: A decrease in the psychological consultation at the Center during the years under study as well as the need to standardize the instruments used, according to the categories set by DSM-IV and CIE-10 were evidenced. It became also necessary to train the personnel in charge of managing such instruments to fill them out completely. Conclusions: The psychological care service provided by CAP is used mainly by single people, most of them women and youngsters. Around 50% of the consultants are university students. The most frequent reasons for consultation in boys, girls and adolescents were behavior disorders (27.1%), adaptive disorders (19.2%), personal conflicts (9.9%) and couple conflicts (7.3%). Adults' reasons for consultation were couple conflicts (23.7%), personal conflicts (13.2%), depression (12.6%) and adaptive disorders (12.5%). Both for under age and adults, adaptive disorders, depression and personal conflicts were the most recurring diagnostic impressions (47.2%, 3.2%, and 4.5% for under age and 38.5%, 7.7% and 5.3% for adults, respectively).
