Abstract

Objective: To describe the different variables associated with the patients who attended the Center of Attention for the Development of Human Potential of Universidad de Manizales (CAHP), in the period 2011 to 2014. Materials and methods: Non-experimental, descriptive research. The data bases and the clinical records of the CAPH which contained information of the 960 consultants who attended the center from the first semester of 2011 to the second semester of 2014 were used. Results: A greater percentage of women were found 58.4%; 41.6% were under age and one third, 31.2%, were university students. Regarding the reason for consultation in children and teenagers, there were behavioral problems in 15.4%, learning difficulties in 12.8%, need of emotional valuation in 15.4%, and anxiety and family problems in 7.7%. In the case of adults, the most common reasons for consultations were the need for emotional valuation 27.2%, sadness 10.9%, the consumption of psychoactive substances 8.7%, and family problems 7.6%. Conclusions: There was a high proportion of behavioral disorders in children and adolescents, followed by the need of psychological valuation, learning disorders and anxiety disorders.
