Abstract

Objective:

The general objective of this review was to identify and describe strategies for health promotion with an impact on the prevention of problematic alcohol consumption in adolescents that have been evaluated by scientific studies.

Materials and methods:

For this purpose, a qualitative study was carried out highlighting the available bibliographic evidence on prevention strategies for problematic alcohol consumption among adolescents.

Results:

School-based, family-based, multi-component, direct approach, and legal strategies were identified, with their positive and negative aspects as well as their effectiveness. Based on this, it can be inferred that the most effective strategies are those with an educational focus for psychosocial health education approach, intersectoral that work with families, contextualized and framed ii an appropriate legislative body.

Conclusions:

The combination of several already validated strategies is more effective than the use of only one type of strategy.
