CARDONA-ARIAS, Jaiberth Antonio; HERNANDEZ-PETRO, Angélica María  e  LEON-MIRA, Vanessa. Validity, reliability and internal consistency of three health related quality of life measurement tools in patient with fibromyalgia in Colombia. Rev.Colomb.Reumatol. [online]. 2014, vol.21, n.2, pp.57-64. ISSN 0121-8123.

Introduction: As far as we know, there are no studies that evaluate the psychometric properties of tools that measure Health Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) in fibromyalgia in Colombia. Objective: To analyze the validity and reliability of one specific and two generic tools for measuring HRQOL in people with fibromyalgia in Medellin, Colombia. Materials and methods: An evaluation was carried out using three scales to measure HRQOL in 100 people with fibromyalgia; the Medical Outcome Study Short Form, the World Health Organization Quality of Life, and the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire. Proportions, reliability by the Cronbach a and internal consistency, discriminant validity, and convergent validity/diverging through Pearson correlations were calculated using SPSS 21.0®. Results: The group consisted of 92% women, most were middle-aged adults, married or cohabiting, with primary school studies, social stratum three, housewives, and 94% with affiliation to a contributory health scheme. The Cronbach a was higher than 0.7 in the dimensions evaluated, with the internal consistency and discriminant validity showing a success rate of 100%. In the validity convergent / divergent, it was noted that the concepts of HRQOL of the three instruments are similar or congruent. Conclusion: The three measurement tools have excellent validity and reliability to assess HRQoL in people with fibromyalgia in Colombia.
