HERNANDEZ-PETRO, Angélica María  y  CARDONA-ARIAS, Jaiberth Antonio. Effect of fibromyalgia on health status and health related quality of life, 2004-2014. Rev.Colomb.Reumatol. [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.2, pp.110-118. ISSN 0121-8123.  https://doi.org/10.10167j.rcreu.2015.03.005.

Introduction: There are disagreements in the studies on health related quality of life in fibromyalgia on the level of involvement of the dimensions of MOSSF-36 and FIQ. Objective: To analyze the effect of fibromyalgia on health status and health related quality of life, 2004-2014. Methods: Meta-analysis with 12 search strategies in four multidisciplinary databases. The protocol with inclusion criteria, exclusion and assessment of methodological quality was applied by two independent researchers, as well as the extraction of information, to ensure reproducibility. Homogeneity and sensitivity was evaluated, and the overall results were presented using a Forest Plot. Results: A total of 21 studies with 6,394 patients were included. Spain had the highest frequency of studies, and the United States of patients. The FIQ had a mean of 61 with range 40-69. In the MOSSF-36, the physical component showed a mean of 29 with a range of 17-49, and 41 in the mental, with a range of 24-53. The mental component was statistically greater than the physical (95% CI = 11.1-12.9; P=.00), as was the FIQ (95% CI= 10.0-12.0; P=.00). There were no statistical differences between the mental component and the FIQ. Conclusion: Fibromyalgia affects physical and mental health, the physical deterioration being greater. It demonstrates the need to incorporate the FIQ and MOSSF-36 into studies, clinical measurements and in the assessment of interventions in rheumatology, given that it gives a holistic perspective by the patient on the effects the disease has on their daily life.
