This article is aimed at analyzing the importance of the history of law in Colombia, as well as the main authors in the field, in order being to build a reference point for future research. To this end, all the numbers of forty law, history and social sciences magazines in Colombia were checked and revised, as well as catalogs and databases of the major publishers and libraries in the country, and the information available in Colciencias about the authors who had worked this issue. As may be seen below, the history of law is still going unnoticed in many legal and historical scenarios, and although there's been progress in the last few years, through important studies in the matter, much remains to be done.
