Abstract

CASTANO GONZALEZ, Eugenio. Carthographies of emotions in the city of Medellín's press: from the body's facade to the deepens of the spirit, 1946-1971. Hist. Soc. [online]. 2015, n.28, pp.227-246. ISSN 0121-8417.  https://doi.org/10.15446/hys.n28.48128.

This article examines the ways in which particular relationships are conflgured in the consumption of certain discourses about the mental health of Medellín's habitants, from the 1950s onwards. In doing so, the article replicates the regulations of the WHO, from 1946 onwards, which began to emphasize an optimal psychosomatic state of health. For this reason, the author is interested in highlighting the construction of meaning taken in a certain type of publications, which attempted to foment, in their readers, a need to invoke the authority of psychiatrists and psychoanalysts. This was done as a means of conserving emotional balance in an urban environment that was increasingly dilated.

Keywords : Mental health; psychoanalysis; emotions; well-being.
