Abstract

MOTATO C, Hernando. From house to universe in the Poetry of Piedad Bonnett Vélez. La Palabra [online]. 2013, n.23, pp.33-48. ISSN 0121-8530.

This essay examines the poetry of Piedad Bonnett based on theoretical reflections about poetry and language by Gaston Bachelard. In her poetry, childhood, memories, love and the city can be identified as thematic axes, supported by dreaming. Throughout all of her poetry books a path can be established around the metaphor of house and its underlying topics. The poet uses the metaphor of house to recreate childhood, the relationship with her father, and the awakening of an adolescent girl who longs for love and being loved. In relation to eroticism, the absence of the other can be felt during the journey inside existence.

Keywords : love; eroticism; childhood; dream.
