Abstract

MONSALVE FLOREZ, Jhon Alexánder. THE CONFIGURATION OF DEATH IN PROFECÍAS DE ANDRÉS IN SATANÁS BY MARIO MENDOZA. La Palabra [online]. 2014, n.25, pp.69-78. ISSN 0121-8530.

This article displays a semiotic analysis of the Profecías de Andrés in the novel Satanás by Mario Mendoza. In this narration the death is one of the persistent elements and it is built up from Andres' divinations every time that he paints or imagines a portrait. The figures, understood as the minimal semantic and consequent elements, that emerge in the predictions refer to death, that is valued enthusiastically and awkwardly by the characters of the novel. In this sense, this article presents a figurative, narrative, actoral, thematic and axiological analysis; everything based on the methods proposed by the Paris semiotic school.

Keywords : Satanás; Mario Mendoza; death; semiotic analysis; figures; themes; axiology.
