Abstract

How is the consolidation of democracy viewed by the political elite? Which are the meanings and values made by elites regarding the political regime and its institutions? Does the latter suppose a reference guide for citizens? This article, from a descriptive-comparative perspective aims to account for the influence of the political elite in the consolidation of democracy, and the meaning and value, they attach to the political regime and its institutions. The questions mentioned will be responded with the theoretical and methodological guidelines that frame this sort of study as well as the perspectives of those who operate in these institutions. Incorporating, incidentally, the role played by the Andean political elite, with their attached values in the consolidation of democracy in the region. Role evidenced in their opinion, attitude, and value towards political objects.
