Abstract

ZULUAGA GIL, Ricardo. The vicissitudes of the first Republic in Colombia. The centralist interpretation of our process of independence. Rev. Derecho [online]. 2012, n.38, pp.225-239. ISSN 0121-8697.

This paper analyzes one of the least studied issues in our constitutional history. This is the process of formation and collapse of the so-called First Republic, and that is a stage that was developed between 1811 and 1816. The document emphasizes the highly federal spirit that characterized that time and demystifies the highly national and unitary focus that traditional historiography has given to that process.

Keywords : Provincial constitucionalism; federalism; regionalism; autonomism; independence.
