Abstract

RICO REVELO, Diana. Motivations of young uninorteños to participate in local elections and regional in 2011. Rev. Derecho [online]. 2013, n.39, pp.89-125. ISSN 0121-8697.

This study describes some motivations linked to 262 students vote intention from The North University (Barranquilla, Colombia) in the elections for Barranquilla's Mayoralty and the Government of the Atlantic on 2011. A descriptive methodology was used with a mixed applied instrument a week before the elections. The analyzed dimensions were: politics interest, political primary socialization, confidence about the party and the candidate, political ideology and individual benefit. The results reflect that the interviewed voted motivated by own attitudes of democratic citizens; democratic values, politics interest and the expectations deposited in the candidate. These findings allow to suggest complementary lines of study to which traditionally they have developed about the young persons roll in politics.
