This paper shows the role of forgiveness in a phenomenon that have to do to the way in that democracies face the crimes against humanity committed in dictatorships or armed conflicts are internal or external, and that we call transitional justice. Thus, the two dimensions of forgiveness are reconstructed: Interpersonal forgiveness and the political or state forgiveness. In the first, we talk about personal forgiveness, forgiveness from the victim. And in the second, a forgiveness which as its name indicates it is the State that grants for a summons to peace and national reconciliation. These two types of forgiveness will be in the light of the objective of transitional justice and difficulties will appear around it.
