This paper analyzes the public policies aimed at old age in the period 2003-2017 in Argentina, in a context of profound transformations in the social structure of the country, and in social and social security policies. It combines the theoretical and statistical analysis on the object of study, developing legal, economic and political aspects. First, the Argentine welfare system is characterized and put in its historical context. Then, a summary of the transformations in the Argentinian social structure that motivated the pension reforms is presented, and finally, the two most important programs of the period are specifically analyzed: the "Pension Inclusion Plan" and the "Universal Pension for the Elderly". The final considerations seek to account for the social and economic impact of the changes in the pension system in the period.
