Abstract

MENDEZ SANCHEZ, FERNANDO. The jurisdiction of the bishoprics of Mexico and Michoacán in the 16th century: Fray Juan de Zumárraga against Vasco de Quiroga. Rev. Derecho [online]. 2019, n.52, pp.57-69. ISSN 0121-8697.

The objective of this research is to analize in a general way, the development of the legal procedure that resolve a conflict between Vasco de Quiroga, Bishop of Michoacán and Don Juan de Zumárraga, Bishop of Mexico, regarding the jurisdictional limits of their respective dioceses. In this analysis, important points of controversy were presented, highlighting the basis for starting the measurement of each bishopric, as well as the resolutions of the Hearing, in which there were many obscurities in the writing that even caused more confusion between the parties about which of them obtained the reason.
