The article investigates the application of law in the judicial rulings issued by the Sectional Labor Court of Cali between 1946 and 1958. The analysis of the interactions between the institutions administering justice and the different actors is twofold: from the claims of workers and employers, which involved speeches about the operation and protection that they demanded from the State when they went to the Court, and from the arguments of the judges in relation to the implementation of the regulations of the field of work. These interactions not only accounted for conflicts arising from labor relations, but also from the courts as disputed spaces, in which the uses of justice showed the fluctuations between control and agency as the actors fought for them in each litigation.
