Abstract

BUSTOS AGUAYO, José Marcos; JUAREZ NAJERA, Margarita; SANDOVAL VAZQUEZ, Francisco Rubén  and  GARCIA LIRIOS, Cruz. Social Representations of Water Resources and Services in the COVID-19 Era. Rev. Derecho [online]. 2022, n.57, pp.155-165.  Epub Sep 30, 2022. ISSN 0121-8697.  https://doi.org/10.14482/dere.57.356.213.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have drawn attention to the issues related to water resources. Scarcity and insalubrity have been invoked by social representations aiming to link the SDGs with sustainable residential use. The analysis of press releases on the supply and consumption of water allows us to explain the phenomenon. The objective of this work was to explain the framing of the press, based on their articles during the 2019-2022 period. Reports alluding to the residential use of water as a mean to prevent COVID-19 by washing cutlery, hands, personal hygiene, and food were considered. The results show that the articles that quoted the World Health Organization were more credible than those quoting the press conferences of the Mexican government, regarding risk management.

Keywords : COVID-19; Agenda Setting; Verisimilitude Framing; Water Resources; Social Representations.
