Abstract
GAVIRIA CHICA, SANDRA CAROLINA; MAYORGA MUNOZ, CECILIA and ZAPATA MARTINEZ, ADRIANA. Protection Measures for Vulnerable Children and Adolescents. Psychosocial Perspective of Family and Residential care. Rev. Derecho [online]. 2022, n.58, pp.100-118. Epub Apr 03, 2023. ISSN 0121-8697. https://doi.org/10.14482/dere.58.127.885.
The purpose of this article is to analyze, from a psychosocial perspective, the implementation of two protection measures in situations of rights violations in children and adolescents: foster and/or substitute families, and residential and/or internship programs. Methodologically, it is an analysis of the cases of Chile and Colombia, information obtained from documentary review, and interviews with key informants.
The results of the analysis allow us to observe that the two modalities show similarities and differences in relation to: reasons for admission, procedures, and institutional functioning to provide care.
At the psychosocial level, experiences are described that show that caregivers or professionals who base their care on accompaniment, affection, and listening contribute not only to the integration of children and adolescents into the context of institutional and family care, but also to their well-being and emotional development.
Keywords : Family; violation of rights; protection measure; childhood; adolescence.
