Abstract

DELACRUZ GIRALDO, GUSTAVO NIXON  and  ZULUAGA SUAZA, PAOLA ANDREA. COVID-19 as an occupational disease within the Colombian legal order. Rev. Derecho [online]. 2023, n.59, pp.151-171.  Epub Jan 30, 2024. ISSN 0121-8697.  https://doi.org/10.14482/dere.59.710.829.

The emergency generated by COVID-19 brought great changes in all areas, including labor, thus changing the dynamics in all economic sectors. The health sector has been on the front line since the beginning of the COVID-19 contingency, clearly exposed constantly to the biological risk factor, thus allowing staff to contract this pathology; therefore, since COVID-19 is a new pathology, of which there was no record, the National Government needed to issue Decree 676 of 2020, which introduces COVID-19 in the table of occupational diseases, presuming the same for the health sector.
