CRUZ BERMUDEZ, Harold Fabián  y  MORENO COLLAZOS, Jorge Enrique. Seroprevalence of Chagas disease on screening tests and associated risk factors to simultaneous reactivity in a Colombian blood bank from 2006 to 2011. Revista médica Risaralda [online]. 2015, vol.21, n.1, pp.26-30. ISSN 0122-0667.

Chagas disease affects about 90 million people worldwide , is a marker for screening in blood bank . Objective: To describe the behavior of marker screening for Chagas performed in a blood bank in Colombia and establish the factors associated with the presence of simultaneous coinfection with other potentially infectious agents transmitted by transfusion during 20062011 . Methods : A cross-sectional study records voluntary blood donors who had reactivity for Chagas screening was performed, the prevalence of Chagas reactivity and distribution of co-infection was calculated Odds Ratios (OR) were calculated, and finally a regression was performed binary logistic. Results : The study population consisted of 1535 donor records reagents which 241 had coinfection , the average age was 46.24 ± 11.02 years, female gender was predominant 57.1 % , the highest prevalence was introduced in 2006 ( 0.37) , the Hepatitis B infection was higher for both genders (n = 128 ) , On the association of factors evaluated have more than 47 years and have not cohabiting ( 2.4 to 1.41 ) fold increased risk of coinfection ( p = 0.000) . Conclusions: The prevalence of screening for Chagas reactivity is below that reported in Colombia , the age and not living with a partner are risk factors that predispose to coinfection with infectious agents primarily related to sexual transmission
