Abstract

BARBELLA, Rosa Angélica  and  ADAMOLI, Virginia. Cyto-histological correlation in Pigmented Lesions from Central Nervous System: leptomeningeal melanosis Associated Melanocytoma. A case report. Revista médica Risaralda [online]. 2016, vol.22, n.1, pp.58-60. ISSN 0122-0667.

Pigmented lesions of the central nervous system (CNS) are characterized by infrequent and ranging from circumscribed to diffuse lesions. Its recognition by the physicians and radiological imaging depends on the clinical presentation and the extent the amount of melanin they contain. There exist some lesions which their histological and biological behaviors are benign:melanocytomas. These tumors may be associated with poorly studied entities as leptomeningeal melanosis or diffuse melanosis. We present a difficult diagnosis case report trough cytology evaluation, both liquid based cytology as well as intraoperative smear, was an important contribution to the final diagnosis.
