This article gathers the intervention experience of an interdisciplinary team of professionals in a project led by the national family welfare institute (ICBF in Spanish) for the strengthening of integral community homes in the neighborhood Alfonso Bonilla Aragón, in Cali, during the period 2018 - 2019. This experience rescued, through permanent dialogue, the quotidian know-how of the participants. To this end, the work of the professionals linked to the project is described, highlighting the daily accompaniment actions carried out with children, their families and community mothers. The aim was to investigate how these actions were articulated with professional work in a vulnerable sector and whether or not they generated a significant contribution to the initial education of infants in the community homes.

The participants were approached by means of different qualitative techniques such as documentary analysis, semi-structured interviews and questionnaires, and priority was given to their thoughts and feelings, contrasting these with the reality of early childhood in the country and the challenges we face as a society in guaranteeing the rights of children under five years old.
