ESCOBAR-ARIAS, Diana Morela  e  MOLINA-MORA, Guiomar Patricia. Childhood education in contexts of socio-political violence: a perspective of women community leaders. Prospectiva [online]. 2023, n.35, e21112314.  Epub 23-Dez-2022. ISSN 0122-1213.  https://doi.org/10.25100/prts.v0i35.12314.

One of the challenges facing the Colombian government is the construction of a stable and lasting peace for the coming years. Its achievement requires the participation of the various social groups that have been protagonists of the social and political violence that has affected the country for more than five decades. On the other hand, childhood education is a right that is being violated by situations of violence that are still present in local communities. In the context of this situation, the following article includes the analysis that 19 women community leaders from the municipality of Yumbo, Colombia, managed to make on the education of children in contexts of socio-political violence, reconstructed through the application of a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews.

Community leaders are considered key actors in the analysis of this problem, thanks to their background in community processes in their neighborhoods. From this place, they build a balance of the actions or omissions of the family, the school, the local government, and other organizations in front of children and make proposals that, from their perspective can contribute to the well-being of children in such a way that the impacts of violence are minor.
