Abstract

RODRIGUEZ-VENEGAS, Viviana  and  DUARTE-HIDALGO, Cory Marcela. “We are fighting for a fairer life”: Narratives of the social outbreak in Chile, 2019. Prospectiva [online]. 2023, n.35, e21312373.  Epub Dec 23, 2022. ISSN 0122-1213.  https://doi.org/10.25100/prts.v0i35.12373.

In this framework, a qualitative study is carried out that aims to reveal narratives from multiple nuances and visions that allow re-live the lived to understand the resistance, illusions, demands, and struggles in the process of social protests in Chile.

The research uses a narrative design under the modality of remote interviews, via WhatsApp, surveyed between November and December 2019. The main results show the surprising massiveness, accumulated anger, and citizen (dis)illusions, as well as the need for profound changes, historical demands, and resistance from an emotional and affective level. The novelty of the study is that it presents a view from the voices of citizens in different territories in the immediate context of the social outbreak.
