Abstract
SAUCEDO DELGADO, Odra Angélica. The morality of social protection: the case of rural Mexico. Cuad. Desarro. Rural [online]. 2009, vol.6, n.62, pp.11-30. ISSN 0122-1450.
This paper discusses, from a theoretical perspective, the morality of the social protection system operating in rural Mexico. From this approach, the morality of social protection deals with the moral values, norms and conventions that govern social institutions, both of governmental and civil nature, and control the access to such a protection. Morality is seen as a factor that influences the interaction amongst people in order to determine what individuals deserve support under adverse circumstances, and which are the rights and duties of the actors involved in the process.
