Abstract

FABIO, José Francisco. Social regulation on transience. Grape production labor market in Mendoza, Argentina. Cuad. Desarro. Rural [online]. 2010, vol.7, n.64, pp.33-57. ISSN 0122-1450.

The present article analyzes the way the labor market is built for vine-growing production in Uco Valley, province of Mendoza, Argentina. From the point of view of the social regulation of labor markets, this article thoroughly studies the comprehension of this market performance based on the inclusion of "social" dimensions underestimated in more traditional explanations about the topic, which are centered on technical-productive aspects. In this line of thought, the way the normative regulation in effect in the territory, the modalities and performance undertaken by labor intermediation agents, and the region entrepreneurs contractual strategies turn out to be central aspects in the construction of transience traits. Such findings are founded on a highly qualitative approach strategy based on semi-structured interviews with the main actors of the above mentioned labor markets entrepreneurs, workers, intermediaries, and government officials carried out from 2005 to 2009.

Keywords : Transient Work; Social Regulation; Grape and Wine Growing Culture.
