Abstract

ESCALANTE, Roberto; CATALAN, Horacio  and  BASURTO, Saúl. Determining Factors of Credit in the Mexican Agricultural and Livestock Sector: a Probit Model Analysis. Cuad. Desarro. Rural [online]. 2013, vol.10, n.71, pp.101-124. ISSN 0122-1450.

Credit is one of the main factors affecting investment, which is responsible for growth and the increase in productivity in the agricultural and livestock sector. Nevertheless, the availability of resources in the credit market in Mexico is meagre, because development and commercial banking do not consider it a priority. After applying the econometric model in this research, results show that factors such as producers' associations, production unit areas, education level, subsidies, social characteristics of the producers and training offered to producers, affect the possibility of gaining access to the credit market.

Keywords : Agricultural policy; agriculture; livestock sector; credit; Agrarian policy; agriculture; agricultural sector-Mexico; agricultural productivity; agricultural credit.
