Abstract

The objective of this study is this article is to study and analyze how the republican associations bursted in during the decades 1830 and 1840. Little by little (gradually), they imposed a totally different dynamic to the regional policy. Based on the previous phenomenon, we can affirm that, those associations were distinctive by: First, their relationship with the state or the administration on shift, working as a mediator between the state and the Popayan society; second, their social composition and third, the role and the goal of these associations, acting as political platform.
