Abstract

DE CASSIA MARCHI, Rita  and  ZAMBRANO GUTIERREZ, Ivannsan. The "social cleansing" in the construction of modern childhood: theoretical and historical approach on children living on the streets in Brazil and Colombia. Anu.hist.reg.front. [online]. 2015, vol.20, n.1, pp.19-40. ISSN 0122-2066.

This article presents a theoretical and historical reflection and approach that aims to make visible the existence of a social imaginary in Brazil and Colombia that fed an image of the nation in the two countries, which enabled an imaginary act of "social cleansing" of population in street from the eighties to the nineties. It was an imaginary insert and fed by the imaginary paradigm of modernity. In turn it will be shown how the institutionalization of childhood in both modern product and its articulation to an imaginary of modernity and civilization, became part of the elements that contributed to the mentioned social cleansing that made possible the assassination of children in street living situation in two countries.

Keywords : children; social cleansing; social imaginary; boy; street.
