This text is challenging some of the views taken into account in the article ‘Issues, problems and stories for environmental history’; that is published in this yearbook. The approach seeks to observe in an epistemological, historiographical, methodologically way this article, and the environmental history itself. As a result, the article cooperates in the systematization of an environmental history theory, so that the social historian understands better, what are the characteristics of the environmental history and some of its methodological, theoretical and epistemological characteristics that point to some differences in the disciplinary matrix between the social history and the environmental history.
