RODRIGUEZ, Henry Mauricio; CAICEDO DELGADO, Gladys  e  CANDELO BECERRA, John Edwin. FACTS location to improve voltage stability. Ing. Desarro. [online]. 2012, vol.30, n.1, pp.23-44. ISSN 0122-3461.

This article presents a comparison of the response of FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) at different operating conditions, located by means of static analysis methods to improve steady-state voltage stability. The development of this research was divided into three stages: the first one to model and study the initial operation of the power system, the second one to locate FACTS with techniques such as modal analysis, sensitivity and line flow index, and the third one to simulate the response of compensators during the initial condition, maximum load, and critical contingency. The comparison of the effectiveness of compensation was performed in the IEEE 39-bus power system case using modal analysis, stability margins, and PV curves. The results showed that for the initial operation and maximum load, the four location methods improved stability with slight differences, but for the critical contingency the response of compensators is better when they are located using the line flow index (LFI), being of great importance the capacity of reactive compensation.
