The present state of the art establishes the basis for studying different mechanisms to provide end-to-end Quality of Service on a network over the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Unlike traditional networks which ensure QoS individually depending on the service provided, IMS seeks the convergence of fixed and mobile services with Quality of Service through a set of policies defined by operators and Service Level Agree ments established with their users.
