Abstract

GARCIA ALONSO, Roberto  and  DAVILA BENAVIDES, Diego. Is Colombian Democracy Consolidated? Assumptions, Analysis and a Methodological Proposal. Pap.polit. [online]. 2015, vol.20, n.2, pp.501-519. ISSN 0122-4409.  https://doi.org/10.11144/Javeriana.papo20-2.edcc.

The present research examines whether the Colombian democracy is or not consolidated from the attitudinal point of view. This article examines different attitudes toward democracy in Colombia during the last fifteen years. In order to do this, we present three concepts: legitimacy, political discontent and political disaffection. We selected some indicators to differentiate these three dimensions of attitudinal consolidation. These dimensions raise a number of distinctions the literature does not usually consider. We analyze the evolution across a long period of time since the constitutional moment in 1991. Finally we propose a methodology that allows to specify the degree of interaction between these attitudes and their influence over the legitimacy of the Colombian political system.

Keywords : legitimation; political disaffection; politic system; attitudinal consolidation.
