Abstract

ARANGO-FORERO, Germán. Audience Fragmentation in a Multichannel Society: The Tastes and Preferences of Adolescents in Bogotá. Palabra Clave [online]. 2008, vol.11, n.1, pp.11-27. ISSN 0122-8285.

The penetration of pay television in Colombia has found favor among adolescents with respect to acceptance and consumption of subscription-based television channels, particularly on certain subjects. These channels have begun to seriously threaten the power enjoyed traditionally by private domestic channels in Colombia. Knowing the consumption habits and content preferences of young people in a television market with an excess supply is the primary objective of this study. The first phase, which is now complete, focused on adolescents who live in Bogotá and attend private schools

Keywords : Television; audience; adolescents; consumption; identity; audience rating.
