The findings of a study conducted in Medellin during 2005 to achieve a broader look at the subject of cinema consumption are the basis for this article. It questions the close relationship between supply and demand for cinema in Colombia and some of the common characteristics of spectators who turn to movie theaters for audiovisual stimulus. Factors such as consumption habits, diet and how they relate to cinema, and the fundamental differences between reading and consumption are some of the topics addressed in this analysis
