Abstract

DE LA TORRE, Lidia  and  TERAMO, María Teresa. The Journalistic Quality of a Regional Newspaper: Journalists, the Medium and Readers. Palabra Clave [online]. 2009, vol.12, n.1, pp.83-104. ISSN 0122-8285.

The process of selecting and creating news stories expresses journalistic values that can be shared or rectified, in part, by the reception process. The objective of this study is to examine those values from three perspectives: that of the news media, its audience and its journalists. Two measuring instruments were designed for that purpose and applied to Diario de Cuyo, its readers and journalists. Dario de Cuyo is a daily newspaper with one of the highest ratios of local news in Argentina. One hundred front page stories, 281 interviews conducted with a sample of readers, and 30 interviews with journalists were analyzed.

Keywords : Values-news; journalistic quality.
